Daniel P. Losquadro

County Legislator Daniel P. Losquadro is a lifelong resident of Suffolk County. Dan was raised in Wading River and attended Shoreham-Wading River schools. With a deep fondness and strong commitment to his community Dan bought a home in Shoreham where he and his wife Lynn now live. A graduate of The State University of New York at Stony Brook, Dan earned his Bachelor of Arts in History. Dan’s wife Lynn is a Middle School Math teacher in their local school district.

Dan won election to the County Legislature in November of 2003 and has been serving full time as the representative for the 6th Legislative District ever since. Since that time Legislator Losquadro has served as Chairman of the Environment, Planning and Agriculture Committee as well as the Veterans & Seniors Committee. For 2010 Dan continues his work as a member of the Environment Committee. Additionally for 2010, Dan serves on the Budget and Finance, as well as Veterans & Seniors Committee. Dan also has the honor and distinction of sitting on the board of both the Environmental Trust Review Board and the Soil and Water Conservation District.

Beginning in 2006, Legislator Losquadro was elected by his peers to the position of Minority Leader and has unanimously been re-elected to that position every year since. In this capacity Dan has sought to develop a comprehensive strategy for dealing with county-wide problems while never losing sight of his primary responsibility to the constituents of the Sixth Legislative District.

For almost ten years prior to taking office Dan had developed relationships with members of the community through his work as a Senior Property Claims Estimator for State Farm Insurance. In his role at the nations largest auto insurer Dan was always held to the highest levels of integrity for his actions. Serving on the front line of defense against insurance fraud, Dan takes pride in knowing that his work kept the overall insurance costs down for his constituents. During his tenure at State Farm, his domain expertise was instrumental in the indictment and conviction of several individuals who had taken part in illegal activities.

Dan is proud to hold the office of Suffolk County Legislator in the Sixth Legislative District. While the Suffolk County Charter defines the position of a County Legislator as a part-time job, Dan understands that the problems of budget and taxes, open space preservation, environmental protection, and public safety require the full time responsibility of a Suffolk County Legislator. Dan’s history of community involvement has led him to believe that a Suffolk Legislator should be the public’s advocate inside county government. He does not want to represent the government to the people; Dan wants to represent the people to the county government.
